Classes

Ancient History

This class is geared towards the 6th and 7th-grade levels covering the following units: What is History, Sumer, Egypt, India, China, Persia, Greece, Rome (republic). This class will explore the foundations of government, why anyone would ever choose to farm, and why jokes always appear in sets of three. Wait a second, there were three examples in that last sentence! Weird. Come find out why that’s a part of our culture.   

Medieval History

This class is geared toward the 7th and 8th-grade levels covering the following units: Rome (Empire), The Byzantines, “Dark Age” Europe, the Medieval Middle East, China and Japan, the Viking Age, the Mongols and the 14th century, and the Early Modern Era. This class explores a lot of misconceptions about the past and the gray area that exists in conflict. Also, Vikings don’t have horns on their helmets, but they do have a lot of fancy combs.

U.S. History

This class is geared toward 8th and 9th-grade levels covering the following units: U.S. Geography and Pre-Columbian America, European Exploration, Colonial America and the American Revolution, U.S. Government, Westward Expansion, Slavery and the Civil War, and Reconstruction.

Modern Europe

This class is geared toward 8th ~10th-grade level learners covering advanced topics in Modern European history from about 1500-1985CE. Topics include the development and evolution of capitalism, sociology, warfare, philosophy, art, and science while providing a basis for understanding and evaluating current events.
